Keeping Current - Website Syndication
Not everyone likes to constantly refresh our website to find out when its updated. For those people we have included RSS / XML feeds which can be used by any News Reader and will automatically inform you of when something new is posted on Creative Arc.
What are XML/RSS/Atom feeds?
Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is an XML-based format for content distribution. More simply put, RSS is a format for syndicating headlines.
What is RSS?
RSS (an acronym for “Rich Site Summary” and later coined “Really Simple Syndication”) is a way for web sites to summarize their content, such as news articles, to make it available in a different view.
For example, Yahoo News (RSS) headlines can be viewed like bookmarks in Firefox or viewed like email in Thunderbird.
Many web sites generate RSS feeds such as Yahoo News (RSS), and your favorite Blog. RSS comes in many flavors, including RSS 0.9, RSS 1.0, RSS 2.0, and Atom -- and Mozilla Firefox supports them all.
You can find many RSS feeds at: Technorati and Syndic8.com
How Can You Use Them?
RSS allows readers to subscribe to a syndicated feed from a website and quickly sort thru a time-based archive of that site's content. You choose what websites you want to subscribe to (often called Channels) and the News Aggregator downloads the recent headlines into the program.
With low volume websites, you may be able to quickly scan the headlines and notice what has changed, but you may feel lost on a site like Slashdot, that is updated almost hourly.
So, why wade thru a whole days worth of information, when you can quickly fire up your favorite News Aggregator and catch up with all the news you've missed in just a matter of minutes?
How can I use or subscribe to these Feeds?
